Privacy policy

Seeded (playseeded.com) is a free tennis pool game run by an individual in Ontario, Canada. This page says what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Your email address. You sign in with a link sent by email. There are no passwords.
- Your display name. It is set from your email at first and you can change it. Other players in your pools see it.
- What you create. Pools you start or join, the team names you choose and your picks. Picks are hidden from other players until the pool locks, then everyone in the pool can see them.
- Sign-in and security records. A sign-in link records your IP address and time so we can limit abuse. Admin actions are logged. Failed and repeated attempts may be blocked.
- Visit counts. We count page views, which page, where the visitor came from (for example a search engine or a link) and the visitor’s country, only as daily totals. Your IP address and browser details are not stored. To count each person once a day, a short one-way code is made from them and kept only in the server’s memory with a random key that changes daily, so it cannot be linked across days or turned back into an address. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. Country lookup uses the DB-IP.com IP to Country Lite database (CC BY 4.0).
- Server logs. Our server and web proxy keep ordinary access logs (IP address, page, time) for security and fixing faults.
We do not collect payment details, because nothing on Seeded costs money. We do not run advertising and we do not sell or rent your information.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. It is needed for the site to work, and we do not use cookies for counting visits or for advertising.
How we use it
- To sign you in and run your pools, scores and leaderboards.
- To email you sign-in links and notices about your pools, such as a pick withdrawing.
- To keep the site secure and to fix problems.
Who else handles it
We use a few providers to run the site. They process data for us and not for their own use:
- DigitalOcean hosts the server and database (Toronto data centre).
- An email delivery service sends sign-in and notice emails.
- A free flag image service (flagcdn.com) serves country flags. Your browser fetches the images from it, so it sees your IP address.
Scores, draws and player names come from third-party tennis data providers. We send them no information about you.
Pool owners and members can see your display name and, once a pool locks, your picks. If a pool is public, anyone can see its name, its leaderboard and the display names on it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and pool history while the account exists so past pools and leaderboards still work. Sign-in links expire quickly and are stored only as one-way hashes. Server logs are kept for a short time and then removed.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your account and the personal information we hold about you. Write to jabrillek@gmail.com from the email address on your account. Deleting an account removes your email and display name. Your teams in other people’s pools are removed or made anonymous so their leaderboards still add up.
Where it is stored and security
Data is stored in Canada. Traffic to the site uses HTTPS, access to the server is restricted and sign-in links can be used only once. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us at once if you think something has gone wrong.
Children
Seeded is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will tell signed-in players by email. Questions or requests: jabrillek@gmail.com.
